Hot-moulding has come into being to resolve the problem of the limited use of the sheets in the design and to give an improved surface as well as a guarantee on the final dimensions. These objectives have been reached but the cost of the product is still very high. For this reason, the suppliers of this technology have recently considered the combination of injection/hot-moulding. Injection is used for the construction of the EVA profile piece, which is a manufactured article having more or less the same dimension as the end product.

This system requires less labour with respect to the traditional system and there is a limited waste (less than 10%). A good dimension control is achieved, with a good reproduction of the design. However, the problem of costs is not resolved: they remain high and the technical characteristics are inferior in respect of the injection method.
